West High Robotics Team Is Travel-Ready for Competition Thanks to Alsco Donation

SALT LAKE CITY – Feb. 8, 2018 – Alsco Salt Lake City, a branch of Alsco Inc., the premier linen and uniform rental services company, recently donated $2,500 to the West High robotics team known as Robot Maestros. Last year, the team made it all the way to the LEGO robotics world championships. It was the first time they had been to the world festival in 10 years. After the thrill of pitting their robot against the best of the best, the Robot Maestros hope to be back again this year.

To help them achieve their 2018 goal, Alsco’s Salt Lake City branch wanted to help support the team with operation and travel costs for two regional competitions and a return to the world championship. The team is already on their way to achieving that goal.

On Saturday, January 6, 2018, the Robot Maestros competed in the regional tournament held at Salt Lake Community College, earning first place for both Robot Performance and Robot Design and will now move forward to the North Utah Championship competition to be held in February.

“We want to offer a huge thank you to Alsco for their generous donation. Helping our organization supports the next generation of innovators and STEM professionals as members of our team and those involved in our community outreach programs are taught essential teamwork and technical skills. Such training and experience would not be possible without generous assistance from organizations in the community,” says August Muller, captain of the West High LEGO Robotics Team. “I am very excited to start the new season with a bigger, better team ready to take on the competition.”
