BOISE, Idaho – Jan. 23, 2018 – Alsco Boise, a branch of Alsco Inc., the premier linen and uniform rental services company, recently donated funds to Camp River Run, which primarily serves the Treasure Valley area as well as the greater Southern Idaho region. Camp River Run provides an engaging overnight camping experience or day camp for campers 7-17 years old, with volunteers and medical staff on-site to support a real camping experience. The organization received tax exempt 501c3 status in May 2008.
Alsco Boise staff applied for and received a non-profit gift/grant through the Steiner Foundation, initially created by Alsco in 1969 to allow Alsco branches to become involved in and have a way to help support various non-profit charities and projects in their local communities.
Except for its paid full-time executive director, Camp River Run is fully staffed by volunteers, including camp director, medical director, medical team, counselors and activities staff. Alsco Boise employee Stephanie Goslin is in her third year of volunteering and currently is serving as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Camp River Run. It was through this employee that the branch was inspired to provide funding for up to six campers at Camp River Run.
“When children are the recipient from any organization’s efforts, it is a win/win situation,” says Alsco General Manager Robert Roy. He adds that Alsco Boise is proud of employee efforts and volunteer time. “It’s a privilege to serve our local community in this way.”
About Camp River Run Camp River Run serves children 7-17 who have a life-threatening illness or some other form of ongoing medical condition. Founded by Shawna Van Beek in November 2006, Camp River Run provides a fun, normal childhood experience for children who cannot safely attend a regular summer camp without professional medical support, which Camp River Run provides with an on-site medical director and medical team, along with counselors and activities support personnel. Since 2008, Camp River Run has established 10 summer camps and recently launched a new series of day camps to serve more children unable to attend overnight camps.
