Charlotte, N.C. – Dec. 19, 2017 – Alsco Charlotte, a branch of Alsco Inc., the premier worldwide linen and uniform rental services company, recently sponsored—for its 22nd consecutive year—the Local Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry event. This annual event was held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at the Fillmore Charlotte from 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm and included a live auction and giving tree.
One in four children in North Carolina struggles with hunger and only 57.4 percent of kids who eat free or reduced priced lunch also eat school breakfast. To help address this problem, the Alsco Charlotte branch sponsorship has included in-kind donations of linens—including tablecloths and napkins for the event as well as monetary donations to support the No Kid Hungry initiative. Guests joined Charlotte’s finest chefs, sommeliers, and mixologists for a remarkable night of dining in support of No Kid Hungry’s work to end childhood hunger in America.
Taste of the Nation benefits Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and Community Culinary School of Charlotte. In 2016, Charlotte’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry raised enough money to help feed more than 1,150,000 healthy meals to children in need.
“We believe strongly that no child in our community should have to go hungry and should have access to healthy meals, which is why we’ve continued to partner with No Kid Hungry for 22 years,” says Alan Sowers, general manager, Alsco Charlotte.
No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger in this nation by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget.
